Everything always start with a body, sadly, this time it's not just one, the Woodsman has already killed four women!
Iris is not in her best moment, but when her old partner asks for help, she couldn't resist to get involved. Ready for an Iris Ballard case?

"'Is this how you honor his memory? By living in a crumbling fortress slowly killing yourself? You used to be fearless. You are the strongest person I know. But you've given up, and that isn't like you. You are a fighter. So fight. Fight with every damn thing you've got to find your way back to yourself. Fight.'"

OMG! I finished this book in just one night! I couldn't put it down till the last page! The next day I was a zombie, but an Iris Ballard fan zombie! :) I loved this book.
This is the first Iris Ballard thriller, so in this book we learn a little bit of our characters and their past... Jennifer Marlow presents a female character who has lost her husband in one of her case's killer. She has nightmares every night and doesn't know how to live with her guilt. Page by page we will understand Iris sadness and feel her pain in our own skin. But when her old partner Luke asks for her help, we can see another Iris, brave and ready to be a kick-ass.
I want to know more about Iris and Luke, for now we just see so many electricity between them that I am sure they cause some fire! But as professionals as they are, their personal life will not interfere in their work.
The case it's not quite complicated as we may think in the beginning, but they will need proofs; and maybe all their tenacity and energy won't be enough... the Woodsman thinks is unbeatable!
Jennifer Harlow has created an astonishing book mixing the Criminal Minds profiler and the dark cases of Karin Slaughter, a top read!
I hope we will read soon another Iris Ballard case, I am her new fan!
