A Suitable Lie by Michael J. Malone

A Suitable Lie by Michael J. Malone
Genre: Crime
Source: Orenda Books
Rating: 5/5

Andy Boyd has found the love of his life for the second time in his short life; he is happy and in love, ready to start a new life near her new wife Anna.
But when the first night of the honeymoon doesn't end as it should be, Andy starts regretting meeting Anna. Will this be his last marriage?

"'You know, it is all right to cry. Big boys do cry. I cried when my Dad died.'
'You did?' I looked up at him, I couldn't have been more amazed if he said 'fuck'.
'Yes, of course. I was terribly sad. I loved my father... You know when I cried it was not for my father, it was for me. He was a good man and so would have gone to heaven. I cried for me because I knew I would miss him every day for the rest of my life.'"

This book starts with a scary thought, killing someone. Who? Why? When? That would be some of the questions that will pop on your mind when you finish the first chapter. But page after page, you will learn that Andy's life is hunted and his only escape door are his thoughts. Now the only question would be, will Andy be able to fulfil his dreams and kill someone?
And Anna... really, does she care for someone?
A twisted marriage mixed with a noir crime and a white collar case; that's what Michael J. Malone has created in this amazing book. Interesting, gripping and so real that you will not be able to put it down.

Lethal Lifestyles by LyneeDee Walker

Lethal Lifestyles by LyneeDee Walker
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Source: NetGalley
Rating: 5/5

"Closing the computer and pulling my dress off, I killed the lights and crawled between the zillion thread-count sheets on the canopy bed. Setting the alarm on my phone for four and a half hours in the future, I laid it on the other pillow and flipped onto my stomach.
My eyes feel shut, Mel's happy smile and Mitch Burke's aristocratic features flashing across the backs of the lids. Maybe my subconscious could come up with a way to avoid completely trashing the bride and groom's Saturday."

This is not my first Nichelle adventure, I met her in the Halloween's Anthology, Midnight Mysteries.
Nichelle is like a superwoman, can organise her bestfriend wedding, solve a murder and have a secret relationship, a superwoman like I said!
I was amazed about Nichelle's loyalty to her friends no matter which was the problem. And with the murder... do you remember Colombo, the policeman? She's like him, a dog with a bone, she can not leave a murder unsolved! So killer, be prepared to be discovered by the amazing Nichelle!
I have to say it was a delight reading this book; it has murder and mystery, fast and intelligent dialogues and a little hint of love. Now you just need a good hot chocolate, a comfy sofa and some spare time to enjoy a good book. You will thank me later! ;)
This is the 6th book of the "A Headlines in High Heels Mystery", but you can read it standalone, the characters are well explained and you don't miss much if you want to start the series here. But I am sure that after starting the series you will want to know more about the characters and you will be the next LyneeDee Walker fan!

Dying For Data by Cassidy Salem Blog Tour and Giveaway!

Dying For Data by Cassidy Salem

Rating: 3'5/5

Adine Donati seems to be a magnet for problems to her and all her friends, this time the lucky ones are her neighbour Elena and her boyfriend Rafael. The question you have to ask is, has Rafael killed his cousin Tony?

"'Anyway, there's still a lot we don't know about Tony's death. I'm trying to keep an open mind. I'm not convinced that Rafael killed Tony, but try to look at it from my point of view. Rafael is tied to two dead bodies in the same week. We have yet to determine whether or not there is any other connection between Tony and the man Rafael killed in the alley.'"

I liked the brave and easy Adina, she always tries to help everyone and is loyal to her friends. Not all the feminine characters can be so human and touchable, Cassidy Salem had done a great job creating a good heroine and with beliefs and moral.
I have to say the case is quite interesting, there are a lot of questions and half lies, but don't know for sure who's involved in the mystery!
I am not a religious person, that's why I don't like very much when one of the characters of a book explains her religion and habits, in this case Jewish. I can understand that being Jewish is something that Jonathan and Adina share in their life and will make them more compatibles, but maybe for me it was too much...
I enjoyed the thoughts of Adina's love life, she seems in an impasse, who will she choose to spend her evenings? With the handsome Bruce but that has some quite strong opinions or Jonathan, the attractive detective, who wants to protect her? Maybe we will have a winner, but in the paths of love you never know! (But I am team Jonathan!)
This book is entertaining and funny, if you like mystery and a little of romance you will devour it. So if you want to know more about Adina Donati in the Accidental Sleuth Book you will know how everything started!
How well do you know your family?

The Ghostwriters by Mickey J. Corrigan - CLP Blog Tours

The Ghostwriters by Mickey J. Corrigan
Genre: Fiction

"I screamed once or twice before he uncrossed his spidery limbs and said, "Don't be a ninny. You know who I am, that I come from you. From your own deranged mind. So what's the sense of yelling, disturbing your neighbours?"
He had a point. I calmed a little. "You may be an illusion, my illusion. But that sure as fuck does not mean you can stay in my bathroom while I shower."

Let me say that no matter what you had to drink, if you are talking to a ghost, you have a problem.
That's the first think that will shock you in this book, and maybe that our protagonist, Jacy wants to help him! JD is a dead ghost writer that wants to make Jacy write for him the next bestseller and while they are working together, he will help her with her crazy life... But hey, he is a ghost, that's very normal! You will spend all the book wondering what type of problems Jacy has with her family that she needs a ghost and drinking to face them.
With a humorous way and some twists, Mickey J. Corrigan will show us the pain the writer face when they struggle with the idea and the plot of a new book, and then of course, being published.
This book had some brushstroke of the Sixth Sense, Misery and Castle, quick and easy to read.
Do you remember when was the last time you talked to a ghost?
