Here's a guest post from the author!
How I went from writing a health book to writing a suspense novel - which certainly isn't healthy for some of my characters.
I was a Health and Wellness Coach and a Personal Trainer for many years. Somewhere in that career, I got really tired of saying the same things over and over again, so I wrote a book-- -The Wine and
Chocolate Workout - Sip, Savor, and Strengthen for a Healthier Life. I'd been a lit major and had worked for magazines in my pre-baby days, and this led me into a rediscovery of the joy of writing.
I left fitness and became the content director of a magazine. There was a lot more angst to this part of
the story than that one sentence implies, but I don't want to bore you.
Moving on.
I also began writing magazine articles for other publications at this time. I believe it was in the middle of an article about The Walking Dead for Zombies Magazine that I had my Oprah moment.
I didn't want to write about other people's stories, I wanted to write my own.
My first three novels (which no one will ever read, not even my husband) were terrible. But for every
failed story, I took another fiction writing class and read another three books on the subject. One of the classes I took was about writing a series. This is where I got the idea to write seven books in the same world (Orange County, California), each centered around one of the seven deadly sins.
I believe, generally speaking, we are our own worst enemies. I liked the idea of exploring how lust, or pride, or sloth, impacts many characters in many ways and what the consequences would be. Of course, it always makes things more interesting if you throw in a serial killer.
Segueing back to my fitness book, The Wine and Chocolate Workout, although I never purposely
intended this, I think my theme hasn't own BS (Besetting Sin). So do my characters.

And here's my review:

This is the story of Gwen and Art, who while they are facing some very serious marriage problems, a killer will be hunting them!

"'When Enrique was cheating on me, he brought me flowers, jewelry, talked about vacations. He was always telling me how beautiful I was, you know? It was all an act. He was covering up his guilt. Art's crazy about you, that's why he could just fall asleep. He has a clear conscience.'"

We can say that there are two main stories in this book, the killer story and his need of vengeance and acceptance; and the story of Gwen and Art and their untold problems...
I was quite surprised on how the author explained the Gwen and Art relation, if they had been together for more than 15 years I can't believe they don't have enough trust in their relation to talk about their work problems, because even if they are really stressed, confiding your feelings and problems to someone you trust is the first step to solve the problems!
And the killer story is quite weird... he can kill all the agents he wants, but is not ready to kill the person that he really hates... of course if he is a serial killer his reasoning is not the same as a normal person, because you don't go killing people, do you?
Let me say that this is not a bad book, if you love a quick read and a killer for vengeance this book is for you. This is the first book of the Deadly Sins series, so I am sure we will see more of these characters!
