Murder Over Mochas by Caroline Fardig
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Source: Great Escapes
It seems that after a horrible year, Juliet Langley's life is starting to establish until her ex-boyfriend appears on her job and dies in front of her eyes! She will be the first suspect, of course, she will have to investigate the case if she really wants to know the truth and the killer tries to kill again!
'He shrugged. "The man had a screw loose. What if his wife simply left him, and he was looking for some attention?"
"So he showed up at Java Jive and dropped dead?"
"I didn't say my theory was a good one, Jules. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about his story I'm not quite buying."'
This is a quite complicated case, with a lot of possible suspects and no one is interested in telling the truth, but of course that’s why Juliet will have to investigate the case to discover the truth with the help of her two best friends Ryder and Pete.
I was quite surprised with the theme of this book, how the pharmaceutical companies “buy” the doctors to prescribe their medicines. This is a high risk game and a very good motive to kill someone, don’t you think?
The thing I liked less in this book was Juliet's personal life, which has an important part in the plot but it was like the author rash over things, some decisions and actions that would take months, Juliet made them in 4/5 days... too quick for my taste...
This is the fifth book of the Java Jive Mystery Series but you could read it as standalone.
