A Patient's Fury by Sarah Ward
Genre: Crime Thriller
About The Book
When Detective Constable Connie Childs is dragged from her bed to the fire-wrecked property on Cross Farm Lane she knows as she steps from the car that this house contains death.
Three bodies discovered - a family obliterated - their deaths all seem to point to one conclusion: One mother, one murderer.
But D.C. Childs, determined as ever to discover the truth behind the tragedy, realises it is the fourth body - the one they cannot find - that holds the key to the mystery at Cross Farm Lane.
What Connie Childs fails to spot is that her determination to unmask the real murderer might cost her more than her health - this time she could lose the thing she cares about most: her career.
I've been addicted to this story since the first page, a family is killed at their house and then tried to hide it starting a fire... But what surprised me most was how the family reacts to the news, totally cold and without any tear, of course there will be secrets and surprises in the family, because simply with the coldness of how they accepted the news the reader knows for sure there's something hiding under the surface...
This is the third book of the DC Connie Childs and sometimes I felt a little lost, because we know that Connie had been on work absence but don't know why and what are the mistrusting issues between the detectives... Let me say that it didn't really affect on the case or the investigation, simply it makes the reader wanting to know more about the characters and their story together, and starting the series from the beginning.
Connie is the main charcter of the story, a strong detective that wants to discover all the secrets on the case. Sometimes she doe not following the rules or what her superiors recommend her, because she is decided to close the case and she will unravel all the secrets to expose the truth.
This had been quite a read, with some unexpected twists and a nail bitting story that left me wonder how longer can a human keep a secret...
