Kate has a six-year-old autistic son, Sam. She has started a new life to escape her controlling and abusive boyfriend Jake and thinks that the past is behind her and that she and Sam are safe. But after spotting Jake through a misted-up cafe window, Kate knows that he has found her.

Kate confides in her neighbour Matt, a man running from his own past. He seems to offer a genuine chance at happiness for her and son Sam, but Jake is determined to get them back at all costs…

This had been a very emotive read, how a mother struggles to keep her autistic son happy and safe from her abusive ex-boyfriend. This is a bittersweet story, sometimes difficult to read but worth every word.

Having an autistic son it can't be easy, they can't show their emotions or connect with the people they have around, this doesn't mean they don't love them, they simply don't know how to connect. I think it has to be a very difficult illness for a parent, and the author, in this case had make an amazing job showing how Kate loves her son, she never complains about all the work she has being a single mother, she only wants Sam, her son, to be happy.

The story will turn about Kate's life, not only her day to day life with an autistic son but the fear for her ex-boyfriend, but she will see a little light in the tunnel when she will meet Matt, it will be a difficult relation, Kate is not a trusty person, but step by step she will start to confide with him...
